I am quite pleased with myself at having cycled for more than 1,000 miles so far this year. It might not be much by some people’s standards but then I am not ‘some people’.
I have gradually increased the distance I have ridden on each outing and if I continue to progress at this rate, I will reach my lifetime’s ambition of riding 100 miles in a single outing. But if that’s a life time’s ambition then what will be left? Cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats sounds like something good to aim for. Or maybe the London to Paris?
But how far would 1,000 miles have taken me?
- Lands End to John O’Groats (the length of Britain) is 837 miles
- It would take about 334 hours to walk 1,000 miles, based upon an average speed of 3mph
